We believe that the fullness of Christ’s vision implies the full social and emotional inclusion of all people. Through advocacy, education and deeds we aspire to lead all to embrace and empower persons with disabilities as a pillar of our discipleship.
All people are born in the image and likeness of God! We inspire, support and encourage the full inclusion, belonging and spiritual potential of people with disabilities in the Catholic church.
Who We Are:
"a way for us in the Archdiocese to be the hands of Christ"
Our Inspiration and Call to Action:
"As he passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
We must work the works of Him who sent me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world."
- John 9: 1-5
All Belong: Inclusion in Ministry
The Archdiocese of Detroit and the Disabilities Ministry Leadership council collaborated to develop an "All Belong: Inclusion in Ministry" training course for Catechists, Directors of Religious Education and Parish leaders. It includes guidance and how-to resources for our parishes to expand the inclusion of people with disabilities in the full life of the church.
